About this research
Using data from 109 children and adolescents in the Global Angelman Syndrome Registry, this study explored the relationship between sleep disturbances and challenging behaviours in Angelman syndrome.
Sleep disturbances were associated with several specific behaviours, including slapping walls, repetitive hand movements and agitation in new situations. These behaviours were also used to develop a model for predicting sleep disturbance within the study population.
The findings highlight the relationship between sleep and behaviour in Angelman syndrome and the value of examining different areas of Registry data together to better understand factors that may affect individuals and families.
