About this research
Using data from adults enrolled in the Global Angelman Syndrome Registry, this study explored challenging behaviour and the factors that may be associated with it in adulthood.
The study included 37 adults aged 18 to 46 years and found that challenging behaviour was common within this group. Sleep arousal and not receiving physical therapy were among the key factors associated with challenging behaviour.
The research provides important insight into an area where relatively little information is available and highlights the need for further research focused specifically on adults with Angelman syndrome, including sleep, behaviour and access to therapies.
